Emergency Survival Kits for Every Possible Disaster

Chances are, sooner or later you'll need to have emergency survival kits to cope with some type of disaster or catastrophe.

It's simply a matter of the odds. No place is entirely safe. If you live a long time, one day you'll be in the wrong place at the wrong time. And, who knows, with the world in the state it's in, maybe the wrong place will be most of the globe or the northern or southern hemisphere. Disaster preparedness can mean the difference between life and death for you and your family.

I can remember those bomb drills at my grade school. We all had to go into the cloak room (where there was no windows with glass to shatter), the small kids lining up to face the wall, us bigger kids in a row behind them, and we all had to fold our arms over our heads and keep our faces pressed down against the wall.

As I recall, I didn't understand the significance -- I just did what I was told. Later I realized how none of those precautions would have saved us if a nuclear bomb landed anywhere near us. With luck, however, they would have saved us if all we experienced was the flash. If we were in the class room when the windows broke, we would have been cut to hamburger by the shards.

In other ways, I was brought up always to be safe than sorry. Of course, I often ignored that when young, but I've kept my most reckless behavior to a minimum, and so I'm alive even though some my age are not.
